New Seasons, New WORDS

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven."

~Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NRSV)

The transition to a new year is often marked with intense celebration of our victories and accomplishments from the previous year, but also an opportunity to reflect on where we have missed opportunities to allow God to work in us and for us, and how we might have worked against ourselves. Approaching a new season should not encourage us to embrace easy platitudes of how this will be "my season." Instead, we are granted an opportunity to make the best out of every season we are granted, as the time is not ours to begin with. God grants us days, weeks, and seasons for the purpose of us learning something about ourselves, about life, and most of all, about our relationships with God and others.

As we take this new year and the coming seasons head-on, the Connectional Young Adult Ministry wants to take the journey with you. Beginning today, we are launching a weekly devotional series written by young adults for young adults.

This devotional series will be different: Instead of being asked to only write words, we are encouraging multiple forms of expression. Writers can share reflections through a video, through art, dance, or simply write. We want this to explore the full expression of the gifts God has planted in the young adults of the CME Church.

As we embark on this new journey together, let us pray for the success of this new year and all of our ventures:

God of New Seasons and New Opportunities, we thank You for provision and help in 2016. As we embark on a new year, we ask for Your continued grace, protection, inspiration, and the fire of Your Holy Spirit. Make Yourself known to us in new ways this year that we might grow and become the people of your kinship community. We ask for a special blessing on the CME Church, its leadership, and all young adults. We ask your blessing on this new devotional series, that it might lift up and inspire Your people. In Jesus' name, Amen!
