The Lord: Our Qualifier!!

A few months after I graduated from Graduate School, I woke up and decided I’d apply for a job. I applied for a supervisory position. This was something that was foreign to me, because outside of my siblings, I’d never had to watch, let alone supervise anyone. But I applied just to say “I did.”

About 3 weeks later I was contacted and asked to come in for an interview. Several questions were asked during the interview, such as: “Tell me about yourself. What are your strengths? What are your Weaknesses? Are you good with people?” And finally, “What qualifications do you have that makes you the perfect fit for this position?”

When I was asked the last question, I was caught off guard.

John 15:16 says, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in my name He may give you.” (NKJV)

I answered the question, and within minutes the interview was over. The next day I received a call and was told that I got the job and would be a Supervisor, which at the time was the highest paying position for that pay grade!

I realized in that moment just how good the God we serve is. God just keeps blessing us with things we know we don’t deserve and never will. But historically, all God has had to work with is an imperfect people.

Jacob was a cheater, Peter had a temper, David had an affair, Noah got drunk, Jonah ran from God, Paul was a murderer, Gideon was insecure, Miriam was a gossiper, Martha was a worrier, Thomas was a doubter, Sarah was impatient, Elijah was depressed, Moses stuttered, Zaccheus was short, Abraham was old, and Lazaurus was dead!

God does not call the qualified, He qualifies those He calls!

Prayer: Father, harken our ears to YOUR voice and our hearts to YOUR will, so that when You call us we will hear, answer, and obey. Amen.
